The Nutcracker is the most well-known and beloved story ballet of all time. Lush scenery and costumes, along with Tchaikovsky's lavish score set the perfect backdrop for E.T.A. Hoffmann's timeless story. Young imaginations will be sparked and audiences of all ages delighted as a Christmas tree grows to huge proportions, mice and soldiers battle, and waltzing Snowflakes whirl about amidst "real" falling snow. Children will especially enjoy seeing candies and sweets from exotic lands come to life and a gigantic Mother Ginger as she plays with her many ginger children.
This year will mark SVB's thirteenth performance of The Nutcracker, a holiday tradition for many families, and core part of the region's Christmas festivities. The Nutcracker is SVB's largest production of the year.
